Roman Catholics embark on a journey each liturgical year. My prayers during this year’s journey are centered on the universal understanding of humanity’s rights under the Natural Law, which binds all men, for all time and in all circumstances, as part of God’s Divine plan.

God’s powerful and perfect calendar which guides us through this journey in Christianity was beautifully painted in a linear fashion by the Dutch artist, Hans Memling, as shown below.

I invite the reader to spend a few moments examining and meditating, from left to right, on the Annunciation, the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, the Nativity, the Slaughter of the Innocents, the Adoration of the Magi, Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, the Passion, the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Pentecost and the Dormition and Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Mother of God.

As we begin this new journey, I pray that this year will be filled with peace and deep understanding of God’s eternal plan.
